How high temperature can the SMD capacitor withstand?

In fact, SMD capacitor have requirements for the temperature of the environment during use and storage. However, in general use, SMD capacitor are resistant to high temperatures and have strong stability, so they are very common in use. Only special instruments and electronic products may have temperature requirements, such as high-temperature and high-pressure electronic products such as rice cookers, microwave ovens, and induction cookers.

The current SMD capacitor materials on the market include NPO, X7R, X5R, Y5V. Here is an introduction to the temperature requirements of various SMD capacitor materials:

When using X5R SMD capacitor (-55℃~85℃), the internal temperature of the product should not exceed 85℃, and the working environment temperature should be lower than 85℃.

When using X7R SMD capacitor (-55℃~125℃), the internal temperature of the product should not exceed 125℃, and the working environment temperature should be lower than 125℃.

When using NPO SMD capacitor (-55℃~125℃), the internal temperature of the product should not exceed 125℃, and the working environment temperature should be lower than 125℃.

When using Y5V SMD capacitor (-30℃~85℃), the internal temperature of the product should not exceed 85℃, and the working environment temperature should be lower than 85℃.

Therefore, when the internal temperature of the product exceeds the rated operating temperature (the capacitor is used under the condition of higher than the upper limit operating temperature), the capacitor will cause problems such as low insulation resistance, sudden increase in current or short circuit (lack of life, or even early failure) .
