Generally speaking, SMD resistor belong to a large category, and package means the form of surface-mount package.
Alloy resistance: Using alloy as the current medium, it has the advantages of low resistance, high precision, low temperature coefficient, impact current resistance, high power and so on. It is also commonly used in various electronic products, and is often used in current sampling or short-circuit protection.
The mainstream alloy resistor are SMD alloy resistor. Copper is the main material, and other materials become constantan, manganese copper and so on. There are many other auxiliary materials, but the main performance is determined by the alloy material itself.
The SMD resistor often mentioned in daily life usually refer to common types of SMD thick film and thin film resistor.
The above two types of products are distinguished from different levels:
Compared with thin films, thick films are classified from the perspective of materials and processes;
A resistor may be a thick film patch, which is made by a thick film printing process. Thick film printing can also be used to make thick film hybrid circuits, and SMD resistor can also be made using thin film technology.
In terms of price: alloy resistor are more expensive than patch thick film resistor. The larger the package, the more precise the precision and the more expensive. The price of thick film resistor varies, and they are also differentiated in accordance with packaging and accuracy.
Alloy resistance is more precise than thick film resistance. Thick film resistance is generally 1% and 5%, while alloy resistance can reach below 1%. Therefore, the price has also gone up.
