Common SMD Capacitor Material Classification
SMD capacitors are a kind of capacitor material. The full name of chip capacitors is: multilayer chip ceramic capacitors, also known as chip capacitors, chip capacitors. There are two ways to express chip capacitors, one is expressed in inches, and the other is expressed in millimeters.
Material classification of chip capacitors
There are four main types of common chip capacitors: ceramic capacitors, chip tantalum capacitors, chip electrolytic capacitors, and chip multilayer capacitors.
1. SMD capacitors: ordinary type, made of ceramic pieces. Single appearance, single appearance, no silk screen on the surface, no polarity. There are many colors, mainly brown, gray, lavender and so on. The basic unit of ordinary chip capacitors: pF.
2. SMD paper multilayer capacitor: ordinary type, material paper. The components of some manufacturers on the surface have silk screen printing, and the shapes are mainly oval and square. The oval shape is generally silver-white with metallic luster, and the square is brown. The layering of the paper medium can be seen from the side. This capacitor has no polarity. Sizes come in a variety of sizes, but are generally larger in size. The basic unit of ordinary chip capacitors: pF. But this capacitance is generally larger at the μF level.
3. SMD tantalum capacitor: material tantalum dielectric. The surface has silk screen printing and polarity. There are many colors, mainly black, yellow and so on. There is a white silk screen on the surface of the tantalum capacitor to indicate the positive pole of the tantalum capacitor, and the capacitance value and working voltage are marked on the silk screen. Most manufacturers also add some tracking marks on the silk screen. The basic unit of chip tantalum capacitor: μF.
4. SMD electrolytic capacitor: material electrolyte. The surface has silk screen printing and polarity. Externally visible aluminum housing. There is a black silk screen on the surface of the electrolytic capacitor to indicate the negative electrode of the electrolytic capacitor, and the capacitance value and working voltage are marked on the silk screen. Most manufacturers also add some tracking marks on the silk screen. The basic unit of chip electrolytic capacitor: μF.
