How to see the withstand voltage and voltage of chip capacitors

The rated voltage and withstand voltage of a chip capacitor are often determined by the manufacturing process of the chip capacitor and its own materials; among them, the insulation resistance is the key to the withstand voltage. Before looking at the withstand voltage and voltage of the chip capacitor, it is necessary to clarify the concept of the rated voltage and withstand voltage of the chip capacitor:

Withstand voltage: refers to the maximum voltage that an electrical or electronic component can withstand, that is, the maximum withstand voltage at which an electrical or electronic component can work normally. If this value is exceeded, the component will not work normally, such as the capacitor mentioned above, once it exceeds its withstand voltage The value will be broken down and will not work properly.

Rated voltage: refers to the standard working voltage of the product. Below this voltage, the 104 capacitor can continue to work normally.

Due to different market demands, the factory will produce different withstand voltage products, and there is a corresponding relationship between the withstand voltage and the rated voltage (but the correlation coefficient of each brand may be different). Take Fenghua chip capacitors as an example:

1. The optional rated voltages of conventional chip capacitors include 4V, 6.3, 10V, 16V, 25V, 50V, and the corresponding withstand voltage range is 3 times the rated voltage, that is, 12V~150V.

2. Medium voltage chip capacitors: the corresponding relationship between rated voltage and withstand voltage:

50V~1000V: Withstand voltage≤rated voltage×1.5

Above 1KV: Withstand voltage≤rated voltage×1.2

According to Fenghua SMD capacitor test conditions, the test time for the above withstand voltage value is 5 seconds.

The ordinary series of chip capacitors withstand voltage: 6.3V, 10V, 16V, 25V, 35V, 50V.

SMD capacitor high voltage series withstand voltage: 100V, 160V, 200V, 250V, 400V, 500V, 630V, 1KV, 2KV.
