Today, most of the world’s SMD production is in East Asia, with TSMC and Samsung in the majority, and mainland Chinese SMD makers are accelerating their expansion of their share of global SMD production capacity.
With the transfer of wafer production capacity to mainland China, the construction of wafer fabs has accelerated, and the demand for semiconductor equipment has also continued to increase. According to 2020 data from Applied Materials, America’s leading semiconductor equipment manufacturer, revenue is 17.2 billion U.S. dollars.
Among them, the revenue from China reached 5.46 billion U.S. dollars, accounting for 31.7%, and it has grown for five consecutive years.
In the first two quarters of 2021, revenue from China has surpassed South Korea, becoming the world's premier semiconductor equipment market. And ASML's DUV lithography machine has a larger revenue market in China.
It can be seen from the sales of semiconductor equipment that the world's SMD manufacturing is rapidly shifting to China. According to this development trend, my country's chips will occupy more than one-third of the manufacturing industry in the near future.
