iFi Audio has added a turntable stage to its affordable ZEN series.

And ZEN Blue and
. ZEN Phono's stabilizers have proved that their fists exceed their own weight, which undoubtedly puts huge pressure on ZEN Phono. Fortunately, it seems to be well-equipped-especially considering its modest price.
First, ZEN Phono can handle moving coil (MC) cartridges and moving magnet (MM) type ammunition. In addition, it provides gain adjustment from 36dB to 72dB to take full advantage of any MC cartridge you connect to the tuning arm. The four gain settings are: 36dB (MM), 48dB (high output MC), 60dB (low output MC) and 72dB (ultra low output MC).
You will also get a subsonic filter button. When the proprietary circuit is pressed, it will "intelligently" filter out the unwanted subsonic output without affecting any deep bass in the recording, which is an undesirable side effect of some distortion filters.
ZEN Phono provides stereo RCA input/output, 4.4mm Pentaconn balanced output, ground terminal and gain selector switch, all located on the back of the device. Pentaconn balanced output can be used to connect to amplifiers with balanced inputs or active speakers-Pentaconn 4.4mm input (such as the input on the ZEN CAN analog headphone amplifier), or through the XLR input of the adapter. This achieves a fully balanced connection and makes full use of ZEN Phono's balanced circuit, which led us to study the discrete, balanced, dual mono circuit design used in this unit under 200 pounds.
iFi claims that balanced circuit design has the ability to reduce noise and crosstalk, and has long been supported by well-known high-end audio electronics engineers.
Now I am the technical consultant of iFi. Cooperate with iFi internal technical team by
, The team has produced a completely balanced ultra-low noise design, "this is unprecedented at such a low price."
Lift up the cover of ZEN Phono, and we guarantee that you will find top-of-the-line surface mount components, such as TDK C0G and Murata multilayer ceramic capacitors, as well as Panasonic ECPU polyphenylene sulfide film equipment. They are not cheap, but iFi said that its first-class ESL (equivalent series resistance) and personality qualities such as high stability and low distortion have great advantages in terms of sound quality and the accuracy of RIAA balance.
Like many iFi audio products, ZEN Phono integrates a customized OV series operational amplifier. In this case, it is said that OVA2637 has a great contribution to ultra-low distortion (0.0001%).
In the end, iFi knew the importance of clean power. Even in the affordable ZEN phono, they sought the best phono stage on the market. They could create their own power source from the mains, similar to a commercial regenerator.
However, keeping the ZEN record player at its target price requires some creative thinking. Instead, the ZEN record player created a power supply with an oscillation frequency of 1.2MHz, which is 20,000 times that of the mains. In this circuit, the filter capacitor with a rating of 10uF is equivalent to 200,000uF at a lower audible frequency, which is an excellent filter power. In addition, the power circuit is located on its own "island" on the circuit board to ensure that the audio signal is not polluted-just super clean +/- 12V DC.
iFi ZEN Phono will be listed on September 4, priced at 149 pounds.
